If I had NSFAS funding for the current year, is there a need to apply again for the next year?

You only need to apply once off for NSFAS funding. NSFAS will fund you until the completion of your degree provided you meet the NSFAS renewal criteria. 

However, if you take a gap of more than one year in your studies you are required to re-apply for NSFAS funding.
